Che'il Mayan Chocolate

https://www.facebook.com/cheilmayanproductsMy Friends and visitors, It gives me great opportunity to present to you our newest addition to Maya Center Mayan Museum - "The Chocolate Making Sessions" at the Museum, A living Mayan Museum.
My vision is to offer you the BEST of Real Mayan Culture and its authenticity. There could not a have a wonderful opportunity to experience the traditional Mayan way of making chocolate from bean to Bar, other than visiting us at the Museum. Several other visitors that came by had a wonderful experience and you can do the same.

Our Cacao Beans are grown by local farmers here in Maya Center Village and is certified Organic. Our Farmers are careful not to use any pesticide or herbicide.

It is the vision of the Mayan Museum to assist our people to create employment within its people, through sustainable cultural tourism.
Firstly we take you for a Farm tour and see first hand how the farm is managed and hoe the pods are collected.

The trained farmer will give you a detailed explanation and process of how the beans are extracted from the pods and then fermented and finally dried and ready to be processed into chocolate.

Here is where you start to make your own chocolate. You will  roast your own cacao beans on the clay griddle, just like how the Mayans do.

Winnowing is also an art by its self, but we need to do it, so we can get the nibs that we need to make the chocolate.

Once we have the Nibs we need, we can now start the chocolate making. Here is where we need to work together as this can be a long process, but taking turns makes it so much easier!

Making chocolate on the Mayan grinding stone, is a lot of fun! The cacao beans being ground on the grinding stone, gets magical as you witness your chocolate beginning to unfold. What is more exciting is that you get to eat your own chocolate.!!!!

The tour is very educational and hands on. You have got to do it.
